Cars in Germany's Town Discovered Marked with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Police Report

Police reported they were alerted by a man who found a vehicle in Hanau covered with red-colored fluid

Roughly 50 vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.

Automobiles, exterior walls and mailboxes were vandalized, occasionally with swastikas, they reported in a statement.

Law enforcement report they were contacted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a resident noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish fluid.

The fluid had been drawn in the pattern of a banned symbol, they added.

Law enforcement then discovered many other vandalized cars and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.

Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public display of Nazi-era symbols.

Law enforcement report early analysis indicate the fluid was most likely blood from a person.

"There is still no indication as to its source; officials are currently not aware of any harm in connection with the incident," they stated.

Local authorities stated they were working "to resolve the mystery" and have appealed to the public for details.

A high-ranking political figure commented the incident rendered him without words and had to be resolved rapidly.

"This incident hits the very heart of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the right-wing terrorist attack half a decade ago," he wrote on a platform, recalling the murder of nine victims by a gunman focusing on people of immigrant origin in February 2020.
